Gocek

Gocek is a settlement located by the Gocek Bays within the Fethiye Gulf. Göcek is 110 km far from Mugla being positioned at the furthest north end of Fethiye bay. It is separated by only 22 km from Dalaman International Airport. By itself, Göcek is a small beautiful holiday village by relatively high Taurus Mountains, nestling right in pine forests. Uniquely, hence, one can enjoy a rich palette of blue and green while resting in Gocek. Let alone the usual Mediterranean beauties, strong infrastructure and surprisingly hospitable climate will please even the most captious tourist.

At the beginning of 1980’s, Gocek was a mere isolated fishing village. The dynamics of its transformation into an important yachting centre can be followed from the point when Turkish President revealed Gocek and found it extremely picturesque. This information quickly spread among tourist companies, and the latter started intensive investment into the region. Hence, Gocek fishing harbours almost instantly were converted into modern luxurious marinas. As a result of this process, additional yachting facilities and respective substructure was built, and eventually the area became the central international sailor point in Fethiye region having stolen the best-yachting-centre state from Marmaris.

To the south lies the sea, whereas all the other borders of Gocek are formed by Taurus Mountains. Thus, Gocek occupies quite intimate and private area providing ideal base for yachting. Fethiye Gulf is very calm and isolated by itself; thereby Gocek is double protected from all the outer climatic and geographic cataclysms. Abundance of adorable bays, tiny cute isles, and heavenly turquoise colour of Gocek Bay water will indispensably deserve love of all those having the passion for sailing or swimming. Ever-friendly weather underlines the attractiveness of the area for sailors from all over the world.

Being another pleasant thing about Gocek, it is very convenient for the sailor tourists to leave their yachts to local experienced pilots hence acquiring a good opportunity to land, do a fine shopping, refuel and simply enjoy the beauties of staying on this hospitable shore. Gocek Marina is administered by Gocek Municipality and is famous for its well-developed service base, low prices, and perfect location in the very centre of the city. Besides, Gocek is praised for a laid-back nightlife and quaint streets lined with pretty buildings. Anyone stopping at the marina can easily walk anywhere inside the settlement, and buy whatever he wants 24 hour a day. Gocek Bay thus makes an excellent overnight stop on any cruise.

Med-mooring system operates here. Anchoring in the marina is strictly prohibited. In accordance with your wish, experienced Gocek Marina staff will secure your yacht stern to or bow to with mooring line and shore line 7/24. Marina office is open 08:00 - 24:00 and will be happy to assist you with all kinds of requests at the entrance of the pontoon.

Not far from Gocek Bay, Tersane being the largest island in Fethiye Gulf is located. Entrance of the harbor-like bay of the island is via a deep narrow channel. The Eastern side of the bay is very suitable for anchor because it is quite shallow and protected from the wind. According to ancient sources, the island was inhabited and named Telandria in the past and was also used as a dockyard for the ships during the Ottoman period. Many houses from past ages can be still seen on the island, which give an idea of the population of the island during the Byzantium and Ottoman periods. As with Kaya Koyu in Fethiye, inhabitants of Tersane Island migrated to Greece in 1922 as a result of an agreement between Turkey and Greece to exchange the foreign populations in the two countries. North of the Island is another anchorage called Summer Port, another nice spot for swimming.

Anither nearby landmark is the beautiful Kargi Bay, where one will enjoy best swimming or snorkeling possible in the region. Windsurfing activities can also be tried in Kargi Bay for those interested.
